Our company
Wheere, investing in the future GPS 2.0 unicorn
Wheere is an innovative deeptech that stands out for its patented indoor location technology, which pushes back the limits of traditional geolocation systems.
On the road to becoming the benchmark for indoor geolocation
At present, our technology requires the installation of terrestrial antennas to enable deployment on a territory-wide scale (four antennas are enough to cover a square kilometer).
In 2030, we plan to launch a constellation of LEO PNT (Low Earth Orbit Positioning, Navigation, and Timing) satellites, offering worldwide coverage. Our aim is to become the benchmark for indoor positioning, just as GNSS systems are for outdoor geolocation.
Phase 1
From preseed to MVP
Wheere was created in 2021 by Pierre-Arnaud Coquelin and Antoine Carrabin, after identifying a market opportunity: the problem of large-scale indoor localization, for which no technological solution provided a satisfactory answer.
Our company was the subject of a pre-seed financed by the founders in order to achieve the MVP. This objective was achieved in 2023, enabling deployment in Montpellier city center with V1 of the system. Numerous demonstrations were carried out, first with experts from CNES and Telecom Paris to validate the scientific approach, then with potential customers from various sectors, notably industry and defense security.
These demonstrations validated the system's technical performance in a real-life environment, and confirmed strong market traction, with over thirty letters of intent (LOI) obtained.
Phase 2
From seed to commercial version
In July 2023, we successfully closed a seed financing round of 11 million euros. This round was led by VCs such as Sofilaro and Blast.Club, well-known French Tech business angels such as Adrien Monfort and Arnaud Frey, as well as institutional and banking players such as BPI, OCseed, ESA BIC, Crédit Agricole and Banque Populaire Occitanie.
This financing covers our development over a 30-month period (mid-2023 to end 2025), with our main objectives being to build up a core team of talent (from 3 to 30 employees), produce the industrial and commercial version of the product (V2), install our first 10 customers, and design the general architecture of the ASIC.
Phase 3
Roadmap
At Wheere, our mission is to make indoor positioning as accessible as GPS, i.e. available everywhere, inexpensive and integrated into all B2C and B2B devices. To achieve this goal, two major steps will be necessary: the miniaturization and cost reduction of receivers (ASICs), and the worldwide availability of our technology without the deployment of terrestrial antennas (LEO PNT).
2028: Launch of our ASIC
By 2028, we will be producing several million ASICs, which will replace the current module built into receivers. This breakthrough will significantly reduce the size of the modules—from 50x50mm to less than 10x10mm—cut production costs to just a few euros per receiver, and reduce energy consumption by a factor of 10.
ASIC will thus pave the way for widespread adoption of our technology, scaling up from a few thousand trackers in use to several million.
2032: LEO PNT Satellite Constellation
The second goal of this phase is to make Wheere technology accessible worldwide without the need to deploy ground-based antennas. Our first satellite is scheduled to launch in the first half of 2027.
This ambitious initiative aims to provide global coverage, ensuring accurate and reliable location services no matter where you are in the world.
The deployment of our space technology will significantly expand the applications of Wheere. It will be integrated into everyday devices such as vehicles and smartphones.
Just like GPS today, Wheere will be indispensable in many B2B and B2C applications: indoor navigation via smartphone, retail traffic management, asset tracking in warehouses, autonomous vehicle control, and more.
Our goal is clear: to achieve nine-figure revenue by establishing ourselves as the global leader in indoor geolocation, a market estimated to be worth over 300 billion euros.
Tours de table to come
2027: Serie A
In 2027, we plan to raise €40 million to fund the production of our ASIC, the design of our space gateway, and the launch of our first test satellites.
2030: Series B
In 2030, we will complete a Series B funding round to finance the deployment of our LEO PNT satellites.
