Smart Port

A Smart Port refers to a port area that uses new technologies (Internet of Things – IoT, Artificial Intelligence, Big Data, Indoor Tracking) to optimize its management, logistical efficiency, and environmental impact.

The goal of a smart port is to transform traditional maritime infrastructure into ultra-connected hubs. This transformation is based on four major pillars:

Logistical fluidity: Automation of goods handling and reduction of waiting times for ships and trucks.

Energy performance: Optimization of energy consumption and integration of renewable energies (e.g., electrical terminals for ships at dock).

Environmental protection: Real-time monitoring of air and water quality.

Enhanced security: Use of sensors and drones to monitor infrastructure and traffic flows.
