ATEX (ATEX Zone)

The term ATEX is an abbreviationfor ATmosphères EXplosives(Explosive Atmospheres). It refers to work environments or geographical areas where there is a high risk of explosion due to the presence of flammable substances (gases, vapors, mists) or combustible dust (cereals, wood, metals) mixed with air.

ATEX zone classification imposes very strict regulations, based on European directives, aimed at protecting people and infrastructure. In these zones, all equipment used (lighting, tools, motors) must be specifically designed not to produce sparks or heat sources that could trigger an explosion.
